NFL fines Clay Matthews $12.5K for tweet about officiating

Clay Matthews is out with a broken jaw, but he’s still getting fined from the sideline. Adam Schefter tweeted on Saturday that Matthews has been fined $12,500 for a tweet about NFL officials.

He said the storyline of the season has been the poor officiating in 2019, which Matthews isn’t wrong about.

There have been countless missed calls and the officiating in the Lions and Packers on Monday night was highly criticized.

Matthews is sidelined for at least a month with a broken jaw. He leads the Rams with six sacks this season.

He’s been at the center of several controversial hits on quarterbacks in the last few years, drawing questionable roughing the passer penalties.
