The Alex Smith Comeback Player of the Year award has a really nice ring to it, doesn’t it?
And it would be a fitting one, given that the now-retired quarterback returned from a horrific and devastating leg injury and was able to suit up for eight games in 2020, while winning five of them and leading Washington Football Team to a playoff berth.
The movement to name the award after Smith started last season when he returned to the field for the first time in two years, and it continued on Monday after news of his retirement broke with his awesome Instagram post:
