Fake punts are always fun. Either they end up working and everyone ends up being shocked. Or, OR, they fail miserably and we laugh at them for days.
Unfortunately for the Cowboys, they fell in the latter category on Thanksgiving against the Washington Football Team.
Down just 20-16 in a completely manageable game only a few minutes into the fourth quarter, Mike McCarthy dialed up a fake punt on his own 24-yard line.
And it wasn’t just any fake punt. It was an end-around that turned into what seemed to be the Philly Special. On 4th & 10. OF COURSE, this thing failed miserably.

Down by four the Cowboys felt that a fake punt was necessary deep in their own territory.
Down by 11, with even less time left, they punted on fourth down.
Why? It had already been established punting wasn't the best option.
