NFL fans roast the Panthers for leaving Cam Newton out of team GOAT debate

In a strange and miscalculated attempt to spark some social engagement on Wednesday, the Carolina Panthers asked followers to choose their GOAT player from a trio of team legends: Julius Peppers, Steve Smith Jr., and Luke Kuechly. All three are undeniable stars – but there’s one player notably absent from the Panthers’ self-selected options, former Panthers quarterback Cam Newton.

Newton led the Panthers to Super Bowl 50 and is the only player in team history to win the NFL MVP award. After playing just two games in 2019 due to injury, Newton was unceremoniously released by the team in March, and has yet to find a new team.

The top replies to that tweet are almost universally in support of Newton.
