NFL fans had so many jokes about the Bears’ trade for Nick Foles

Mitch Trubisky proved throughout the 2019 season that he likely isn’t the franchise quarterback Chicago fans hoped he could be when the team traded up to select him, but the Bears are bringing in a second option at QB at a very high cost.

The Bears are trading away a compensatory fourth-round pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars for QB Nick Foles – and the remainder of his huge contract – according to a report from USA TODAY Sports.

Per ESPN’s Field Yates, Foles’ contract has been restructured to fit under the Bears’ cap, and Chicago will be on the hook for $50 million over three years. Trubisky is entering the fourth year of his four-year, $29 million deal with the Bears.

The Bears were reportedly in talks with the Panthers about a possible Cam Newton trade, but according to The Athletic’s Joe Person, had concerns about Newton’s health.

If Foles can channel his 2017 Super Bowl MVP form, this may prove to be a good deal for Chicago – but for now, many fans were roasting the Bears.
