NFL fans congratulated the Jets after they continued tanking in the most shocking way

The New York Jets nearly did something terrible. They nearly won in Week 13 against the Las Vegas Raiders. At this point, the repeatedly defeated Jets need to keep losing, with hopes they can pick Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence with the No. 1 overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft.

It’s one of those weird situations in sports when winning isn’t advisable.

So NFL fans were happy for New York when the Jets somehow miraculously managed to pull off a 31-28 loss to the Raiders.

It wasn’t easy, though.

New York had a four-point lead with 13 seconds left in the game and things looked pretty dire. But then Raiders quarterback Derek Carr launched a deep ball to speedster Henry Ruggs, who fielded it and ran untouched for a touchdown.

Hooray! Whew.

Here’s a look at the play, which would normally be a total disaster for the Jets — but was actually pretty great.

Sure looks like the Jets maybe gave that up on purpose, no? Let’s go to the dots, just to be sure.

Three guys in coverage, eh? Well, maybe the Jets really thought the blitz would work in that spot. Is that plausible? No? No. Ok.
