NFL Fans Apoplectic Over Chiefs WR Kadarius Toney’s Miserable Performance

It’s early in the season, and there shouldn’t be too much emphasis placed on any one single performace–good or bad. In the case of Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney, it’s definitely bad, even if it is only one game.

Toney’s butterfingers cost the Chiefs seven points when a perfectly placed pass from Patrick Mahomes clanged off his hands and into those of Lions defensive back Brian Branch, who ran it back for the score.

It got worse for the fourth-year wideout, acquired by the Chiefs in a trade with the Giants last year.

The Chiefs were down 21-20 with 2:30 left in the game. Toney failed to secure a catchable pass that would have been an 18-yard gain with a lot of room in front of him. Even a modest run after the catch would have put the Chiefs in range for a game-winning field goal.

Toney finished with one catch and one rushing attempt, each for minus-1 yard, and unofficially, he also had four drops. He was targeted five times in the passing game.

Football is the ultimate team sport, but it’s hard to overlook such a brutal stat line. Fans certainly didn’t miss it.
