Cincinnati Bengals fans are hoping that No. 1 overall pick Joe Burrow can help turn around a franchise that won just two games in 2019 and hasn’t won a playoff game since 1991 – five years before Burrow was born.
The early reports from Bengals camp have been positive and Burrow seems to be thriving in his new role as Cincinnati’s starter, but the Bengals are still a distant longshot to contend for a playoff spot in 2020. Despite that, one bettor placed a huge wager on the Bengals to emerge as the best team in the AFC. BetMGM announced the bet, which will payout $1.2 million on a $5,000 bet (240/1 odds) if the Bengals enter the playoffs as the No. 1 seed in the AFC.
Given that the Bengals have to play the Ravens and Steelers twice in divisional play, and make trips to Indianapolis and Philadelphia – along with the fact that the Chiefs exist – this bettor doesn’t seem to have much of a chance. Still, Leicester City won the Premier League as 5,000-to-1 underdogs, so anything is possible.
