NFL experts make Week 3 picks for Titans vs. Browns

The Tennessee Titans will travel to Cleveland Browns Stadium in Week 3 for a matchup between a pair of 1-1 teams who are looking to move to 2-1.

After a disastrous start to the season for quarterback Ryan Tannehill, the Titans signal-caller rebounded nicely in Week 2 in a 27-24 overtime victory over the Los Angeles Chargers.

Meanwhile, the Browns dropped their Week 2 contest to the Pittsburgh Steelers, 26-22, in what was yet another disappointing performance from quarterback Deshaun Watson in a Cleveland uniform.

The Browns lost more than just the game, though, as star running back Nick Chubb suffered a season-ending knee injury.

The Titans won’t be at 100 percent, either. Left guard Peter Skoronski has been ruled out after an appendectomy last week.

Sportsbooks see the Titans as the underdogs going into this game, but do the majority of NFL experts feel the same way? Find out now as we go through 49 expert picks ahead of Sunday’s contest, and we’ll provide a final tally.

Pete Prisco: Browns 24, Titans 23 – “The Browns lost running back Nick Chubb Monday night, and he is the heart of the offense. That will put more pressure on Deshaun Watson, who isn’t playing well. The Titans defense is solid, while the offense came alive last week. The Browns will win this, but it’s really close.”

Chris Simms: Titans 20, Browns 17

Mike Florio: Titans 20, Browns 17

“Cleveland has lost the heart and soul of its offense in Nick Chubb,” Florio said. “Deshaun Watson is still a far cry from who he used to be. The Titans are scrappy enough to hang around and steal it.”

Sporting News’ Week 3 picks

Vinnie Iyer: Browns 23, Titans 20 – “The Titans will do their best to have a chance in this game against old AFC South foe Deshaun Watson by using their stout run defense to slow down the Browns’ Nick Chubb-less running game. On the flip side, Tennessee will be relentless with is own power rushing champion, Derrick Henry, to try to wear down Myles Garrett and Cleveland’s pass rush. In the end, Watson makes a few more impact improv running plays in contrast to Ryan Tannehill.”

Bill Bender: Titans 23, Browns 20 – “Mike Vrabel, an Ohio native, is 1-1 as a head coach against the Browns. Tennessee beat Cleveland 43-13 in their last visit to FirstEnergy Stadium in 2018 – and the Titans will rely on Derrick Henry and Tyjae Spears against a tough Cleveland defense. If Ryan Tannehill can protect the football, then Tennessee should be able to steal one against a Browns’ team coming off a short week and back-to-back divisional games, without Nick Chubb.”

The 33rd Team’s Week 3 pick

Ryan Reynolds: Browns 20, Titans 17 – “The Cleveland Browns will be without Nick Chubb, but they still have a high-quality offensive line to drive their running game. They’ll face a Tennessee Titans run defense that has given up the fewest yards per carry to running backs this year. Tennessee’s secondary, however, has been torched for the fifth-most passing yards this season. Unfortunately for Cleveland, Deshaun Watson has been one of the worst passers in the league through two games. If Watson continues to struggle, Cleveland’s defense will have to carry another game. The Browns’ pass rush has a trench advantage in this contest.”
