Former Ole Miss star D.K. Metcalf became a viral sensation at the NFL Combine with his eye-popping strength and speed and his absurdly low body fat percentage, but concerns over his route-running ability and versatility caused Metcalf to plummet down draft boards this week.
Once projected as a possible top-15 pick, Metcalf watched as eight wide receivers were selected before he finally got the call from the Seattle Seahawks. Metcalf broke down on the phone as soon as he heard he was headed to Seattle with the final pick in the second round.
Metcalf made a strong impression on the Seahawks earlier this year by showing up for a meeting shirtless. Pete Carroll responded by taking off his shirt before shaking Metcalf’s hand.
