NFL Draft: Bears pick Colorado OL Arlington Hambright in 7th round

Annie Costabile

As the Bears near the end of the 2020 NFL Draft, they took Colorado offensive lineman Arlington Hambright in the seventh round at No. 226 overall. It is their second-to-last pick, with the next one coming soon at No. 227.

It’s their first move to address an offensive line that struggled last season.

Hambright played offensive tackle in college, but could end up at guard with the Bears. He is 6-foot-4, 307, and has said he can play any position on the offensive line.

After sitting out the first round, the Bears began the draft by picking Notre Dame tight end Cole Kmet and Utah cornerback Jaylon Johnson at Nos. 43 and 50, respectively, on Friday.

They got rolling Saturday by trading a 2021 fourth-round pick to the Vikings to get a fifth-rounder this year and take Tulsa defensive end Trevis Gipson at No. 155 overall. They also chose Georgia Southern cornerback Kindle Vildor (No. 163) and Tulane wide receiver Darnell Mooney (No. 173) in the fifth.

Barring a trade, their final pick is a seventh-rounder at No. 227.
