NFL Draft: An edge-rusher for the Eagles in each round

The Philadelphia Eagles have several pressing needs on the offensive side of the ball, but the Eagles could choose to add another pass rusher to the roster via the draft.

There are several big-named edge-rushers set to enter the NFL and with the Eagles looking to become a quicker, more versatile team, Howie Roseman could choose to add more depth to a pass-rushing unit that already looks formidable in Philadelphia.

We’ve provided an edge-rusher for the Eagles to consider in each round.

1. K’Lavon Chaisson, LSU

The Eagles can get younger along the defensive line and the LSU star wouldn’t be a bad player to start with. Chaisson is a Danielle Hunter clone and is versatile enough to play on the edge or in space.

2. Josh Uche, Michigan

A standup linebacker for Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines, Uche has the ability to be an every-down pass rusher in the NFL, who can also be versatile in a zone or man pass coverage.

With the Eagles looking to be innovative while getting younger and more versatile, Uche could be perfect against the grain option.

3.Jonathan Greenard, Florida

A talented and rangy edge-rusher, Greenard was a first-team All-SEC selection after leading the Gators with 15.5 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks in 12 starts.

Greenard also posted 52 total tackles, an interception, four pass breakups, and three forced fumbles.

4. Alex Highsmith, Charlotte

A walk-on at Charlotte, Highsmith matured into a game-wrecker.

In 2018, Highsmith garnered first-team All-Conference USA accolades after posting 60 tackles, a school-record 17.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, and two forced fumbles.

In 2019 Highsmith repeated as first-team All-C-USA while earning third-team All-American honors from the Associated Press after finishing in the top five nationally with 21.5 tackles for loss and 14 sacks in 13 starts.

5. Kenny Willekes, Michigan State

In 2018, Willekes was named the Big Ten Conference Smith-Brown Defensive Lineman of the Year after recording 78 tackles and 8.5 sacks.

During his final season in East Lansing, Willekes posted 10 sacks and 15.5 tackles for a loss and could be a solid mid-round pick for the Eagles.

6. Jonathan Garvin, Miami (Fla.)

As a junior, the Florida native starting 11 of 12 games, racking up 37 tackles, nine for loss, five sacks and two forced fumbles.

Garvin decided to sit out the team’s bowl game to prepare for the NFL draft.

7.Trevis Gipson, Tulsa

A Texas native, Gipson is a natural athlete, who as a senior, garnered first-team All-American Athletic Conference accolades after leading Tulsa with 15 tackles for loss and eight sacks, with 49 total stops.
