NFL did not fine Dolphins defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh for kicking Ben Roethlisberger in the knee late in the fourth quarter of the Steelers' 30-15 loss in Miami Sunday.
Roethlisberger, who will miss the Patriots game Sunday after undergoing surgery for a torn meniscus in his left knee, sustained a bruise to his right knee when Suh kicked him. The Steelers forwarded a copy of the play to the NFL offices and asked the league to review it.
Suh was rushing Roethlisberger and was engaged with Steelers guard David DeCastro when he lifted his leg and kicked Roethlisberger's knee.
Suh has a history of plays for which he was disciplined by the league. He was suspended in 2014 for stomping on Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Roethlisberger told teammates during the game Suh kicked him. A review of the play on NFL Game Pass confirms his suspicion. On a play late in the fourth quarter, Suh was being blocked by Steelers right guard David DeCastro. When Suh got close to Roethlisberger but did not have his hands free to sack him, he raised his leg and kicked Roethlisberger square in the knee.
"I'm not sure what he was thinking," DeCastro said when asked about Suh's kick. "You'd have to ask him what he was thinking. I heard Ben saying he kicked me, but I didn't really see it until we watched the film."
