NFL DFS Week 9: Jets at Colts

Devising the perfect Daily Fantasy Sports strategy for the NFL can be a challenge, which is why I'm here to assist.

On DraftKings, it's important to remember you're playing full-point PPR with bonuses if a player surpasses 300 passing yards, 100 rushing yards or 100 receiving yards.

Here is my optimal lineup for the $1.5 million Thursday Night Showdown contest featuring the New York Jets and Indianapolis Colts.

All prices listed are courtesy of DraftKings with a $50,000 budget, and you need at least one player from each team.

— Captain: RB Michael Carter, Jets ($12,900)

Carter has clearly become the focal point of this offense judging by the two games since its Week 6 bye. The rookie has 276 total yards with 17 receptions (23 targets!) over that span.

— Flex: RB Jonathan Taylor, Colts ($11,600)

If I didn't use Carter as my captain to save some cash, I would have chosen Taylor (an obvious choice). He has at least 110 total yards and a touchdown in five straight games and there's smash potential with this matchup.

— Flex: WR Michael Pittman Jr., Colts ($10,200)

Since Week 5, Pittman has been WR6 in full-PPR formats. He may not score twice this week — the Jets secondary has played better than most realize — but double-digit targets and some high-leverage opportunities is a probable scenario.

— Flex: RB Nyheim Hines, Colts ($5,600)

Hines has been a disappointment most weeks, but the Jets have allowed 561 receiving yards to running backs this season — the most in the NFL.

— Flex: D/ST Colts ($5,000)

This is a bet on a solid defense playing at home against Mike White, who should come crashing back down to Earth after a fairy tale first start at quarterback against Cincinnati.

— Flex: K Michael Badgley, Colts ($4,400)

I normally fade kickers in these contests, but Indy attempts the fourth-most field goals per game (2.3) and the Jets force the most (3.0). A double-digit point performance isn't hard to imagine.
