NFL Competition Committee to meet in Indy to discuss rule changes

The top prospects in the country aren’t the ones traveling to Indianapolis this week for the National Scouting Combine – the NFL’s Competition Committee will be meeting as well.

The Committee, which is comprised of two NFL owners, two club presidents, two general managers and two head coaches, will convene Monday to discuss a number of possible rule changes to present at the owners’ meetings later this spring.

For a rule change to be adopted, two-thirds of the owners must agree on the proposal.

At the conclusion of each season, the Committee obtains feedback from the around the league and a number of sources, including surveys from all 32 NFL teams.

In light of the non-call in the Saints’ playoff loss to the Rams, one of the potential rule changes to be considered this year is the instant replay.

It’s important to note, Saints coach Sean Payton is one of two head coaches who serve on the Competition Committee.

In addition to the instant replay, changes to punt plays and the helmet rule will also be discussed during Monday’s meeting.
