NFL commissioner Roger Goodell says league made a mistake about protests

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell spoke on Friday and sent a very clear message. The NFL fully supports the Black Lives Matter movement and the idea of peaceful protests. According to Goodell, the NFL made a mistake when they did not embrace this philosophy sooner.

This is a strong paradigm shift from the league’s previous stance. We can only speculate on what this will mean for teams this season. Owners will certainly have a say in how this will play out but it feels like this is setting up to be an opportunity for players to protest prior to the start of the game, potentially during the national anthem. This is sure to divide fanbases everywhere.
