NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah has Raiders tapping Clemson again in first round

The story of the 2019 NFL draft for the Raiders was their love for Clemson players. The Raiders snagged three players from the reigning National Champions, including top pick Clelin Ferrell at No. 4 overall. Then they went back to the well to land cornerback Trayvon Mullen in the second round (No. 40) and receiver Hunter Renfrow in the fifth round.

This has led to many people thinking Mike Mayock has a thing for players from the school. You can understand why that might be considering they won two National Championships in three years.

Once again Clemson has a few top prospects in this year’s draft. And NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah has them taking Mullen’s former secondary mate AJ Terrell with their second first-round pick at No. 19 overall in his most recent mock draft.

Terrell would reunite with his college teammate, Trayvon Mullen, to give the Raiders two tall, long and rangy CBs to build their secondary around.

Our own Marcus Mosher explored this possibility.

I would contend that Mayock may not just be about Clemson players specifically, but rather those who were major contributors on National Championship teams. Or just winners in general. Winners know how it’s done and they expect nothing less. Though with 3 interceptions in the 2018 season, Terrell would fit into that mold as well.

Terrell is the third cornerback off the board in Jeremiah’s mock, behind Ohio State’s Jeff Okudah (No. 3) and Florida’s CJ Henderson (No. 16). He has the Raiders taking Jerry Jeudy at No. 12 overall as the second receiver off the board. CeeDee Lamb went to the Jets at pick No. 11.
