NFL.com’s Brian Baldinger praises Dolphins WR Preston Williams

All summer long, all anyone heard about the Miami Dolphins was that they’re a boring group on offense that won’t score any points because they got a whole lot worse in personnel versus that they had with an already bad offense in 2018. Well now it is time to hold the phone — the narrative seems to have shifted a bit. This isn’t to say that Miami is going to consistently move the ball offensively and that there won’t be growing pains! But it turns out the Dolphins might serve as appointment television this upcoming week against Tampa Bay.

Why?

Because of the electric duo that was QB Josh Rosen and WR Preston Williams. Williams was a dominant force on Thursday night against the Atlanta Falcons — physically dominating defensive backs and showing good ball skills, body control and hands to make four difficult receptions for nearly 100 yards.

This performance came a week after Miami’s informal scrimmage, where Rosen and Williams combined to go “well over” 100 yards in that affair as well. NFL.com’s resident film junkie Brian Baldinger took a look at the Dolphins’ performance in this contest — and came away eager to see more of Preston Williams.

Imagine that. People are suddenly “excited” to watch Miami’s offense in the preseason? It’s funny to hear — especially after the repeated criticisms of the Dolphins as the worst group of skill players in the NFL. Heck, they still might be — but at least there’s a compelling reason to check them out. That’s already more credit than Miami received back in May.
