NFL.com ranks Phillip Lindsay among bottom 10 starting running backs

In his latest piece for NFL.com, former running back Maurice Jones-Drew ranked the top starting running backs in the league. He has Broncos Pro Bowler Phillip Lindsay ranked No. 23, among the bottom ten starters in the league.

“Lindsay is recovering from a wrist injury he suffered last season, but it’s hard to be down on a guy who accomplished [so much],” MJD wrote alongside his ranking of the second-year running back.

It sure seems like MJD is down on him.

The list of players ranked above Lindsay includes LeSean McCoy (No. 22), a 30-year-old running back who averaged 3.2 yards per carry last season and scored three touchdowns. Josh Jacobs (No. 21) is ranked higher, too, despite having yet to play a down in the NFL.

Then there’s Damien Williams (No. 20), who does look promising, but he rushed for 256 yards in 2018. And Adrian Peterson (No. 19)? He’s 34 years old! And how about Jordan Howard (No. 17)? He averaged 3.7 yards per carry last year.

Do those RBs sound like better players than Lindsay, who totaled 1,278 yards from scrimmage, scored 10 touchdowns and averaged 5.4 yards per carry last season? MJD seems to think so.
