NFL.com lists Trevor Lawrence as top choice to become a first-time Pro Bowler for Jags this season

The Jacksonville Jaguars will enter this season with one of the youngest teams in the NFL, but if they are competitive enough, they could send a couple of Pro Bowlers down the road to Orlando.

When it comes to the conversation of names who have the best chances to get a Pro Bowl nod, players who’ve already been there like Josh Allen and DJ Chark Jr. come to mind. However, they also have some players who’ve never been who have the potential to make the all-start game roster, too.

While he has yet to play in an NFL game, NFL.com’s Marc Sessler believes Trevor Lawrence has the best chance to be a first-time Pro Bowler for the Jags in 2022 as it isn’t uncommon for rookie quarterbacks to get the nod. As we’ve mentioned in the past, Lawrence is also coming into a situation where there are plenty of skill weapons, which is another reason Sessler likes the rookie’s chances.

It’s not impossible for a rookie passer to wind up in the Pro Bowl. Russell Wilson, Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, Dan Marino, Dak Prescott, Cam Newton and even Jameis Winston pulled it off after fine first-year outings. Lawrence fits the bill as a celebrated top-flight prospect destined to start right away. Jacksonville’s offense is far from star-studded, but Marvin Jones, D.J. Chark and Laviska Shenault Jr. form a reliable wideout group, while rookie runner Travis Etienne and 2020 sensation (and Pro Bowl snub!) James Robinson give Lawrence plenty to work with. The looming curiosity: Can Urban Meyer stir this drink into a winning tonic?

Right now, Lawrence is the favorite to win Offensive Rookie of the Year in the eyes of Vegas oddsmakers, and if that happens, a Pro Bowl nod certainly isn’t out of reach.

However, it’s worth noting that the Pro Bowl frequently comes down to popularity, which is why a lot of players from Jacksonville have a hard time making the cut. Then again, Lawrence is significantly different than any other player the Jags have ever drafted and is a widely recognizable face. The Jags’ fanbase has already witnessed this first hand as many Clemson Tiger fans have expressed they will be supporting Lawrence while donning Black and Teal on Sundays.
