The NFL added insult to injury when they flagged Falcons safety Keanu Neal for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for tossing his helmet immediately after tearing his Achilles in Week 3.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the league will not fine Neal for the penalty.
It was already an ugly moment when the penalty was called, but to fine Neal for what was just a natural reaction to a gruesome injury would have been a terrible look.
The Falcons will be without their Pro Bowl safety for the rest of the year, and host the Titans this Sunday from Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
