Flex scheduling in the NFL is now possible for all three major nights of the season. Sunday nights have been involved since 2006 and we already knew this season would also start bringing flex scheduling to Monday nights.
You can now add Thursday nights to that list as well. By a 24-8 vote, the owners passed a resolution to allow flexible scheduling to include Thursday games as well this season.
The key points are that this only involves Weeks 13-17, the league can only flex a maximum of two games to Thursday and there must be 28 days of advanced notice. This only applies for the 2023 season unless no games are flexed, in which case the league would roll over Thursday flex scheduling to 2024.
This can potentially affect the Jets, since their Thursday night appearance is scheduled for Week 17 against the Cleveland Browns. We will know by the end of November at the latest if that game will indeed be flexed out.
