NFL announces schedule change for Chiefs-Raiders Week 13 game

The NFL has announced another schedule change for Week 13. This time, the change impacts the Dec. 1 game at Arrowhead Stadium between the Oakland Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs.

The AFC West divisional matchup between these two rivals has been moved from its original time of noon CT to 3:25 p.m. on CBS. In a corresponding move, the game between the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers was flexed to noon CT.

Kansas City and Oakland’s game is shaping up to be one that has significant playoff implications in the AFC West race. The NFL wants to get as many eyes as possible on that game, so a change to the afternoon slot makes plenty of sense. New England Patriots vs. Houston Texans will remain the Sunday night game for Week 13.

The Chiefs will be well-rested heading into that game after a Week 12 bye. The Raiders will have spent Week 12 on the road facing the 3-7 New York Jets. Of course, Kansas City also has an important AFC West division matchup tonight against the Los Angeles Chargers in Mexico City. Winning that game would give the Chiefs a half-game advantage over the Raiders entering Week 12.
