NFL announces an HBCU combine along with the Regional Combine Invitational

With the NFL attracting players from all over the country, the NFL just announced that it will hold an HBCU Combine in Miami at the Dolphins Baptist Health Training Facility (March 27-29), as part of it’s Regional Combine Invitational.

The league announced it as an opportunity for athletes around the country that may not have had the exposure to pro scouts, or been invited to the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.

Per NFL Communications:

Format for the HBCU Combine:

Friday, March 27: Measurements and Club Interviews
Saturday, March 28: On-Field Workouts
Format for the RCI:

Saturday, March 28: Measurements and Club Interviews
Sunday, March 29: On-Field Workouts

Players from Historically Black Colleges and Universities make up about 10% of the current members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Those names include Harold Carmichael, Donnie Shell, Jerry Rice, and Michael Strahan among others.

Vikings wideout Adam Thielen is among a handful of players in the NFL who were discovered at the regional combines.
