NFL announces 32 Compensatory Draft picks, Raiders get none

Today the NFL released their compensatory picks for the upcoming draft. A total of 32 picks were handed out. The Raiders weren’t expected to get a pick based on players lost vs players signed. And indeed they did not.

Leading the way were the Patriots (of course) with 4 comp picks. After that it was three each for the Broncos, Texans, Vikings, Giants, Eagles, and Seahawks. Then two each for the Ravens and Dolphins. Getting one each were the Bears, Cowboys, Rams, Steelers, Buccaneers, and Washington.

This is how they break down:

That’s ten third round picks! Which is a lot. There were eight 4th round picks, two 5th round picks, three 6th rounders, and nine 7th rounders.

In most years prior it has been the third round that has the fewest comp picks in it. It was the opposite this year with the third round having the most and the 4th having the second most. That’s some serious incentive to let players leave as free agents instead of signing them to new deals.
