NFL and Deshaun Watson reach settlement — Watson suspended 11 games, fined $5 million

The NFL and Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson have reached a settlement regarding his suspension for violating the league’s Personal Conduct Policy.

Under the terms of the agreement, Watson will serve an 11-game suspension, and face a fine of $5 million.

At the beginning of the month, retired federal judge Sue L. Robinson issued a decision recommending a six-game suspension for Watson. The NFL decided to appeal that decision to Commission Roger Goodell. Under the terms of the CBA, Commissioner Goodell designated former New Jersey attorney general, Peter C. Harvey, to decide the appeal.

Rather than wait for the decision, the parties reached the following agreement:

Under these terms, Watson will be eligible to return in Week 13. when the Browns play the Houston Texans.
