NFL analyst explains why Vic Beasley could thrive with Titans

The Tennessee Titans inked Vic Beasley to a one-year “prove-it” deal earlier this offseason in order to help bolster a pass-rush that finished with 43 sacks in 2019, good enough for No. 13 in the NFL.

While that was certainly an improvement over 2018, it still wasn’t enough, as the lack of a consistent pass-rush hurt the Titans in their loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game.

Beasley doesn’t come without some question marks, though. The former Atlanta Falcon has been inconsistent during his career.

After leading the league with 15.5 sacks in 2016, Beasley has a total of 18 combined in the three years since, however he did have somewhat of a bounce-back campaign in 2019 when he posted eight.

But there is reason to believe that Beasley could really thrive with the Titans, as he seems like a perfect fit for head coach Mike Vrabel’s system, as Sports Illustrated’s Andy Benoit explained.

Not only is the scheme a great fit for Beasley, he’ll also have plenty of help around him to take some pressure off, something that wasn’t the case in Atlanta.

Thanks to his aforementioned “prove-it” deal, Beasley enters the 2020 season in a contract year, which will only give him more motivation to perform at a high level in order to secure a lucrative, long-term contract in 2021.
