Though the Mitchell Trubisky era is done in Chicago, his career isn’t.
Trubisky is the backup to Josh Allen in Buffalo right now, but NFL analyst Daniel Jeremiah believes he will be a starter next season.
Jeremiah praised Trubisky for how well he believes he played in the preseason. He also believes that what is going on in Chicago with their offense right now shows that Trubisky wasn’t their main issue.
“God bless Mitchell Trubisky. You watch, people are going to be shocked how much money he gets,” Jeremiah told Lindsay Rhodes on her NFL Rhodes Show podcast. “He’s going to be a starter next year, there’s too many openings, there’s not enough quarterbacks to go around.”

The question becomes, who signs Trubisky?
There are a few key places that would fit him. The Steelers will need a quarterback and likely won’t have a high enough draft pick to grab one of the top prospects. Do they take a swing at Trubisky?
What about the Broncos? Teddy Bridgewater is a free agent and if they miss the playoffs, head coach Vic Fangio could be on his way out. If Brian Daboll ends up getting the Broncos job, he could take Trubisky with him, who already knows his system, and could work with him in Denver.
Another team that could need a quarterback BUT not a new head coach is Washington. They were rumored to land Trubisky during the offseason but went with Ryan Fitzpatrick instead. That didn’t work out. Maybe Trubisky ends up there.
One final spot is the Giants. They’re another team who could pursue Daboll, as the Joe Judge era hasn’t worked out much. They will have a high enough draft pick to choose a quarterback, but if there isn’t one they’re sold on, why not take Trubisky?
The Giants will have high enough draft choices where they could start to build a solid offense around Trubisky, including Chicago’s first-round selection. If Daboll is Trubisky’s head coach, it’s Year 2 in a system he is already comfortable with. That could be their recipe for success.
It’ll be hard to tell where he ends up, but he is good enough to be a starter in the league. He will have options next season, the question will be, who signs him?
