NFL Network Top 100 series includes just one Dolphin

Every summer, NFL Network showcases the top 100 players in the league, as voted on by the players. And while opinions of players are also subjective, the expectation is that those playing in the league can accurately assess the talent of the NFL as well as anyone.

The 2019 edition did give some love to cornerback Xavien Howard — ranking him 55th as he debuted in the Top 100. But no other Miami Dolphins made the list. Offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil should be the most upset, although upon reviewing the list it appears the bias against offensive linemen is quite real — even among players.

Philadelphia’s Lane Johnson and Oakland’s Trent Brown didn’t make the cut despite terrific seasons in 2018. Indianapolis’ Quenton Nelson was omitted as well even though he was first-team All-Pro as a rookie.

So while Dolphins fans and players can lament the poor representation and the snub of Laremy Tunsil, context is pretty important here. It turns out the list this year was just awful all around.
