Seahawks’ division-rival 49ers select DE Nick Bosa No. 2 overall

With the No. 2 overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft, the San Francisco 49ers have selected defensive end Nick Bosa. The Niners boast an already solid roster and Bosa should have an immediate impact.

Bosa, who is the brother of Chargers’ Joey Bosa, looks to be every bit as disruptive as his sibling. During his three years at Ohio State, Bosa racked up 17.5 sacks in a conference defined by its dominating rushing attacks. Although his 2018 campaign was cut short by injuries, Bosa is still more than ready to wreak havoc at the NFL level.

This is not particularly good news for the Seahawks.

While Seattle’s offensive line has shown significant improvement, they still struggle significantly when it comes to pass protection, especially against the 49ers. In the two meetings with San Francisco in 2018, the Niners managed to bring Russell Wilson down six times, including three in a 26-23 upset victory.

Now the 49ers best position group became significantly stronger, and Seattle will have to figure out how to defend Bosa twice a year.
