NFC West ranks No. 4 in latest division power rankings

Now that mandatory minicamps have wrapped up around the league, it’s time to take a first look at the NFL’s potentially toughest divisions this upcoming season.

NFL.com writer Gregg Rosenthal ranked all four divisions in the AFC and NFC based on which teams had the best shot of making the Super Bowl in February.

The NFC North came out the clear winner, featuring the Bears, Packers, Vikings and Lions. The NFC West landed at No. 4 overall.

“The Seahawks have been the best NFC team of the decade under Pete Carroll and last season’s playoff appearance showed the coach’s resourcefulness,” Rosenthal wrote of Seattle.

Here’s what he had to say about the Seahawks’ division rivals this year.

“The Rams have won 24 regular-season games in two years under Sean McVay and there’s little reason to think they’ll suddenly crumble,” Rosenthal noted. “The Cardinals have a chance to be the worst team in the NFC, but this division’s ranking was helped by the 49ers’ ceiling. Perhaps no team in the NFL has a bigger boom-or-bust potential.

“Twelve wins or 10 losses would not be a surprise, but anything close to the former projection would give this division three dangerous teams.”
