Feb. 16--Looks like Brandon Bostick won't get a chance to make up for his major gaffe during the NFC championship game.
And that Green Bay's lasting impression of him will be the football -- along with the Packers' Super Bowl aspirations -- slipping through his fingers during an onside kick attempt by the Seattle Seahawks late in that game.
Bostick indicated Monday on Twitter that he is no longer with the team:
"Thankful To Spend The First 3 Years Of My Career In GB. Unfortunately My Time There Has Ended. I Appreciate The Support From Everyone In GB!"
In his three years as a tight end for the Packers, Bostick caught nine passes for 123 yards with two touchdowns. But he surely will be most remembered for what has become his final play in a Green Bay uniform.
In a game that the Packers led at halftime, 16-0, the Seahawks had pulled to within 19-14 with less than four minutes remaining in regulation and attempted an onside kick for a chance to possibly take the lead.
Bostick was supposed to block so star receiver Jordy Nelson could catch the ball. But, instead, Bostick tried to make a play and ended up having the ball go through his arms, off his chest and into the hands of Seattle's Chris Matthews.
Seattle went on to score on that drive and eventually win in overtime, 28-22. Of course, plenty of factors went into the Packers' meltdown, but Bostick accepted the blame afterward.
"I let my team down, I feel like," Bostick said. "I feel like if I would have done my job, my assignment to block, Jordy would have caught the ball and the game would have been over."
