NFC North watch: Vikings trade EDGE Yannick Ngakoue to the Ravens

The Minnesota Vikings made headlines for executing a big trade to acquire EDGE Yannick Ngakoue from the Jacksonville Jaguars over the summer. Less than two months later, the Vikings have already pulled the plug on Ngakoue.

Minnesota dealt Ngakoue to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday in a trade that helps the Vikings recoup some of the draft capital they sent to Jacksonville in late August to land the 25-year-old pass rusher. In that first deal, Minnesota dispatched a 2021 second-round pick and a conditional 2022 fifth-round draft pick to the Jaguars. The Vikings then signed Ngakoue to a one-year, $12 million contract.

Now the Vikings get back a 2021 third-round pick and a 2022 conditional fifth-round pick from Baltimore, which will happily rent Ngakoue and his five sacks in six games for the rest of the season. The Vikings are in last place in the NFC North at 1-5.
