NFC North watch: Packers beat Bears in ugly opener

The NFC North took center stage with Thursday night’s Week 1 kickoff in Chicago between the Bears and the Packers. After sitting through a low-scoring matchup which was equal parts defensive struggle and horrible offensive display, the general public might not want to see the division again for a while.

The Packers prevailed, 10-3, thanks to former Bears safety Adrian Amos picking off Mitchell Trubisky in the left corner of the end zone on Chicago’s one good drive of the night. The box score aptly sums up the utter lack of offense from two quarterbacks, Trubisky and Aaron Rodgers, who did not play at all in the preseason:

Rodgers was under constant pressure from the Bears defensive front, getting sacked four times on 3rd down and short-arming several throws under duress. That was still better than Trubisky, who continues to wildly miss open targets at times. The Packers defense looked much improved, however.

Lions fans have to be encouraged by the offensive struggles, but both defenses appeared great.
