NFC East watch: Joe Judge’s Giants deal is for five years

The Washington Redskins weren’t the only team to go with a new head coach in the NFC East this year.

While the Redskins settled on the experience of Ron Rivera, the New York Giants took a gamble with a special teams coordinator by the name of Joe Judge.

And the shocker of a deal there is for a stunning five years.

Judge has a good background given his connections to Bill Belichick and Nick Saban, something he’s stressed since getting hired.

“What I learned from Coach Saban was it is important to address everybody not only on what they have to do but how it should look, what I need to do to get there and why it’s important,” Judge said, according to ESPN’s Jordan Raanan.

But part of the long-term commitment by the Giants here stems from the mistake of trying to rebuild and contend at the same time, which made the team faceplant.

Clearly, the Giants are all-in on Judge and the rebuild.
