NFC East News: Giants QB Eli Manning to announce his retirement

The Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants have had some heated moments over the past 16 years and the one constant in all the contest was Eli Manning.

The younger brother of NFL legend, Peyton Manning, Eli was drafted by the Chargers and traded to New York after a draft-day trade back in 2003.

The rivalry with the Eagles was intense and now it’s no more, as Dan Graziano and Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com are reporting that Manning will retire from the game during a Friday news conference.

During his career against the Eagles, Manning went 10-21 during 31 regular-season meetings and lost both times he faced the Eagles in the playoffs. Manning’s last win against the Eagles came in 2016.

Manning will finish his career with 366 touchdowns, 57,023 passing yards, and two Super Bowl MVPs.

Add in the most Eli Manning stat ever, as the Giants star will finish with a career record under center of 117-117. His two Super Bowls coupled with the 50% career winning percentage will make a difficult discussion when his Hall of Fame worthiness gets discussed.
