The 2018 NFL season is over, but if last season was any indication, teams hoping to have success against the Philadelphia Eagles may want to achieve it through the air. According to Pro Football Focus, Fletcher Cox and company had the highest graded run defense in the division last season.
Not only was the run defense tops in the division, but it was a top ten run defense overall, explaining how the Eagles made it into the playoffs. With the addition of Zach Brown and Malik Jackson, this unit should only be strengthened against the run.
The Eagles allowed 332 rushing attempts, for 1,551 yards and a 4.7 yards per carry average, with Adrian Peterson’s 90-yard touchdown run being the longest of the season.
Teams averaged 96 yards per game against the Birds last season but averaged a whopping 269 yards per game, allowing the Eagles to finish 30th in the league in passing yards.
