Neymar‘s transfer value has plummeted dramatically over the last six months, according to CIES Football Observatory.
The PSG striker was valued at £175.3m at the start of 2019 but has seen his commanding price dip to between £106.8m-£133.5m since the turn of the year, signalling a loss of up to £62.5m.
The Brazilian’s move to PSG was expected to see him enter the same bracket as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
However, Neymar’s two seasons at PSG have ended in Champions League disappointment, despite scoring 34 goals in 37 Ligue 1 games, and been frequently stunted by injury.
Allegations away from the field have also caused the Brazilian’s market value to decrease with Neymar testifying for almost two hours last week in a Rio de Janeiro police station against the rape accusation levelled at him.
The allegations have caused Neymar to be dropped from Mastercard’s latest advertising campaign, while Nike have also expressed their concerns.
Barcelona and Real Madrid remain interested in a move for Neymar, however, PSG will look to recoup their £197.5m outlay for the forward, which will prove a stumbling block to any deal.
