Neymar transfer breakthrough as Barcelona chiefs head to Paris for make or break meeting

Everyone loves to see their friends land on their feet.

Whether it be a a significant life event or, perhaps, your pal finding a new job.

And that's certainly the case for Neymar this morning. The Brazlian is probably grinning like a Cheshire cat after his his international team-mate Philippe Coutinho joined Bayern on loan.

The pair are close but the PSG star will be happy for more than just one reason.

Coutinho was a Barcelona misfit and his fresh start in Bavaria should be the boost he needs to find his form again.

And the playmaker's exit has opened up a space in the Barca first team squad and Neymar would love to be the man who fills it.

The 27-year-old has been sulking all summer but his swagger has returned as he looks to seal his Paris Saint-Germain exit.

Real Madrid are also keen to pull off a signing coup but PSG will not accept anything less than €200m for the world's most expensive player.

Despite Florentino Perez's desire to bring Neymar to Madrid - there's a feeling the player's heart remains in Catalonia.

And Barcelona are looking to use the player's preference to their advantage as a delegation of Nou Camp decision makers are heading to Paris for showdown talks on Monday.

El Chiringuito claim Barca are sending their top dogs in a bid to return home with Neymar in tow.

And the La Liga champions need a boost in the worst way possible.

The pressure was heaped on under-fire Ernesto Valverde following his side's anemic opening night display in their 1-0 defeat to Atletic Bilbao.

Valverde, in the eyes of many, has been a dead man walking since Liverpool's epic Champions League comeback at Anfield.

But a return for Neymar and his mercurial talents could buy the current boss some breathing space.
