Paris Saint-Germain attacker Neymar's three-game Champions League ban could provide a boost to Spurs going into the group stage of the competition.
The Brazilian has been reprimanded for comments he made following the French club's exit at the hands of Manchester United last season. A controversial handball awarded via the video assistant referee saw the French Champions crash out of the competition in March.
Neymar was on the sidelines for the match due to a foot injury, but vented his frustration at the decision on social media after the game.
“This is a disgrace. They put four people that know nothing about football in charge of looking at the replay for VAR," the player wrote on his Instagram account.
“There is no penalty. How can it be a handball when it hits his back! Go f*** yourselves!”
UEFA were quick to charge the 27-year-old with insulting a match official, and after the charge was upheld, they have handed the player a three game Champions League ban, meaning that he will miss exactly half of the French Champions' group games.
PSG are in pot one for the draw, alongside Europa League winners Chelsea and Champions League winners Liverpool. Spurs meanwhile are in pot two for the draw.
That means that Tottenham could potentially come up against PSG in the group stages of the competition. If this happens, Neymar will be missing for at least one of the matches, which will give Spurs players one less star to worry about.
