Neymar's father launches X-rated rant after forward suffers serious ankle injury

Neymar's father has posted a furious message on social media after the PSG forward was carried off on a stretcher in his side's 1-0 loss to Lyon on Sunday.

The 28-year-old could be set for a long layoff after he was left in tears clutching his ankle following the dreadful tackle by Lyon's Thiago Mendes, who was sent off.

It remains to be seen the exact extent of Neymar's injury, but his dad, Neymar Sr, was left livid that the Brazilian international was not given more protection by the referee during the game.

He took to Instagram to write: "F***… how much longer? We have spoken about this so much, we have so underlined the excess of violence.

"Why not stop it at the start, with the first foul, why wait until the 7th, 8th, 9th? We are not taking the necessary measures throughout the entire match, during which Neymar was the victim of a dozen fouls, always violent ones.

"This encourages these type of players and attitudes. Continue like this and football will really lose a lot… FOR HOW MUCH LONGER WILL THE VICTIM BE THE ONE AT FAULT?

"It is up to the person who controls the match, the person who has the opportunity to protect… ahh… What can we do? I hope that God looks after you."

PSG did offer a potentially positive update by releasing an initial report on Neymar's injury on Monday saying the news is "reassuring".

The medical report suggests he has escaped without a fracture, but they are still unsure about the state of his ankle ligaments.

This is not the first time Neymar has suffered with serious injuries, and he has twice been ruled out for around three months with metatarsal fractures.
