Neymar returns to Barcelona as PSG striker spotted at F1 Grand Prix with Dani Alves

Paris Saint-Germain's Neymar and Dani Alves have been spotted watching the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona , where they met drivers and bosses such as Pierre Gasly and Christian Horner.

The duo had been in action just a day before when they helped their side to a 2-1 win over Angers in Ligue 1, with Neymar scoring and providing an assist and Alves also assisting.

That performance appeared to earn them a rest, and they took a break by watching Lewis Hamilton claim his 76th F1 career victory at the race in Barcelona.

The Briton returned to the top of the championship standings with victory, and despite starting in second place overook team-mate Valtteri Bottas on the opening lap.

Why Neymar won't be PSG captain explained by Thomas Tuchel

It was a return to the city where both Neymar and Alves spent a good part of their careers, with Neymar starring for Barcelona from 2013-2017 while Alves made 247 appearances for the Catalan club between 2008-2016.

PSG have already won Ligue 1, although their recent form is patchy, with Saturday's victory only their second in their past eight games. Their season cannot be considered a total success as they failed to make it past the last 16 in the Champions League, which is known to be the club's priority, after they dramatically lost to Manchester United .

The duo were not the only footballers seen at the event. Ex-Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa presented Spanish driver Carlos Sainz of McLaren a Madrid shirt before the race.

Meanwhile speculation continues to rumble on regarding the future of Neymar. The star continues to be linked with a move back to Spain to either Barcelona or Real Madrid , although his form and apparent happiness at PSG appears to have improved in the last few months.

PSG are thought to value the 27-year-old at £300m, which would surely put off potential suitors.
