Neymar injury: Brazil doctor gives update on PSG star ahead of Liverpool clash

Brazil have played down Neymar's injury after the Paris Saint-Germain star was forced off against Cameroon.

The forward left the field after just eight minutes which what appeared to be a muscular injury and went immediately down the tunnel.

PSG will be sweating on any injury to the world's most expensive player, with Liverpool visiting in a crunch Champions League game in seven days' time.

"He felt a discomfort on the right side of his groin region," Brazil doctor Rodrigo Lasmar told Globo.

"He complained and underwent an early assessment, but he already began his treatment.

"It doesn't seem serious at first, but we should wait and see how he develops."

Neymar added on Instagram: "Thanks to everyone who sent me messages wishing a good recovery. I think it was nothing serious."

Kylian Mbappe was also forced off holding his shoulder during France's friendly against Uruguay in a further headache for PSG and Thomas Tuchel.
