Neymar fumes in deleted tweet during PSG's big win over old club Barcelona

Neymar was absolutely fuming during Paris Saint-Germain's win over Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

The Ligue 1 champions have one foot in the next round after a crushing 4-1 win over Barca at the Nou Camp.

Kylian Mbappe put in one of the biggest performances of his young career after scoring a hat-trick.

But before he could cause havoc, Barcelona were awarded a controversial penalty.

Lionel Messi clipped a ball over the top from deep with Frenkie de Jong his intended target.

However, as the PSG defenders raced back, Layvin Kurzawa inadvertently clipped the Dutchman on the foot, causing him to tumble.

Referee Bjorn Kuipers immediately pointed to the spot with VAR confirming the decision, though the Paris left-back had only eyes for the ball and any collision was merely accidental.

Nevertheless, Barcelona were awarded the spot-kick and Messi made no mistake - beating Keylor Navas with a powerful effort from six yards out.

Neymar, sitting at home watching the match injured, was furious with the decision and took to Twitter to express his frustration.

With a series of laughing emojis, he wrote: "Piada esse penaldi" - which translate to "Joke that penalty."

The tweet was hastily deleted soon after, perhaps at the fear of repercussions or a torrent of messages from fans of his former club.

It had no bearing on the result, though, with Mauricio Pochettino's men turning on the style soon after going a goal down.

Mbappe exhibited some sublime footwork to bamboozle Clement Lenglet after a snappy piece of play involving Kurzawa and Marco Verratti.

The 22-year-old took PSG into the lead after being at the right place at the right time when Alessandro Florenzi's low cross caused havoc in the Barca box.

Where does Mbappe rank among the world's top players? Have your say below.

Five minutes later, Everton loanee Moise Kean scored after being completely left unmarked from a free-kick.

Mbappe grabbed his hat-trick with time running out with a deadly counter-attack led by sub Julian Draxler but it was all about the finish, taking the German's pass first-time with a curling shot past Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Whether Neymar is fit for the second leg remains to be seen but PSG will surely feel they can finally put the bad memories of 2017 to bed.
