Neymar branded PSG 'burden' as former Rangers man takes aim at superstar

Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar has been decried as "a burden" for his team after a poor start to the season.

The Brazilian international has scored just once in Ligue 1 this season, and was criticised for his performance in Le Classique against Marseille.

PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino has defended the world's most expensive player, but that doesn't wash with former Rangers man Jerome Rothen.

Now a pundit, the former PSG winger believes Neymar has become a millstone for the squad, despite being reunited with his old Barcelona team-mate Lionel Messi.

Rothen, told Le Parisien: "What is certain is that you do not need to have played at a high level to realise that Neymar today is not decisive, that he is less impactful, less creative, even less altruistic.

"In every respect he is lower than what he did in his best times at the club and his last big game is starting to feel like ancient history.

"So, unfortunately, yes, he has become a burden for the collective rather than a solution.

" Because he's a player different from the rest and normally he is an additional asset.

"However, even that becomes a problem for the coach. Because you don't manage Neymar like any other player."
