Neymar and the Barcelona transfer complication as expert negotiator's exit sends signing tremor

Barcelona are ready to turn their focus back to Neymar after coming up short in their pursuit of Lautaro Martinez - according to a report.

The Inter Milan forward emerged as the La Liga champions' No.1 target but talks have stalled. The Catalan giants had been keen to offer players in exchange for the Argentine but the Nerazzurri are adamant any suitor will have to activate his £99million release clause.

Now Barça appear primed to weigh up another bid to land Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar.

UOL Esporte claim key figures within the Nou Camp want to reunite 28-year-old Brazilian with Lionel Messi ahead of the final stage of their talisman's career.

The club icon has been vocal over his concerns with the direction the club are going in and a return for his trusted ally could act as a peace offering.

But any move for the Samba superstar could be further complicated with the impending exit of South American scouting specialist Andre Cury.

He was the man who brokered the deal to bring Neymar to Catalonia from Santos back in 2013 but are Barca cutting their scouting team in half from 40 to 20.

Neymar left Barcelona for £198m back in 2017 but was close to a return to his former club last summer before the deal was kiboshed.

The latest update on the ultimate signing saga comes after former Barca chief Sandro Rosell's "two contracts" claim.

He added: "If I were the president of Barca, I would try to sign Neymar.

"He is the second-best player in the world after Messi and fits perfectly into the philosophy of the club.

"But with experience, I would sign him with two contracts, one sports and the other behavioural."
