"Next Van Dijk" - Leeds United fans all say the same thing about Leo Hjelde

Leeds United fans have been expressing their delight at the latest addition to the Leeds United squad after Leo Hjelde completed his move from Celtic with some supporters likening him to Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk.

He completed his switch from Celtic Park on an undisclosed fee, putting pen to paper on a four-year deal.

For the time being, he will be integrated into Mark Jackson's U23s side as the 18-year-old looks to get up to speed with the United academy.

The Norwegian's future has been a topic of discussion in recent weeks after reports that Leeds were looking to acquire his services.

And the speculation was fuelled when the former Ross County loanee was omitted from Ange Postecoglou's Europa League squad.

But on Friday, his move to west Yorkshire was confirmed with many fans delighted and drawing comparisons to Jurgen Klopp's towering centre-back.

"Obviously, I'm really delighted to sign for this massive club, you know it's been going on for quite a while now to get the deal over and done with, it's a great feeling," he said speaking to LUTV.

"I feel like Leeds is the right club for me. I really like the way they play, they have the best manager in the world right now, just looking at where the club is heading in the future I want to be a part of it."

Hjelde watched on as Jackson's side took on Derby County U23s last night, but could be in contention to make his debut in the Premier League 2 when Leeds host West Ham United on September 11.

It has been a good week for the U23s after Charlie Cresswell extended his deal before earning a first call-up to England's U-21 setup, while Joe Gelhardt, Lewis Bate, Cody Drameh and Sam Greenwood were called up to England U-20s.
