Next to restart online shopping after Irish stores closed in March

Popular retailer Next is to restart its online operations, which was closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Online sales for the British retailer stopped on March 26, but they are now beginning shopping and deliveries again with a limited number of staff.

It will begin on a phased basis, only offering children's clothing and some home items.

But there will be a limit on how many orders can be taken each day, and once the limit is reached the site will become browse only once again.

It quickly reached its limit this morning, and the site has once again been closed to orders.

When the limit is reached, the following notice will display on its site: "In order to operate our warehouse safely, we are limiting the number of warehouse colleagues working at any time, and so we will  limit  the number of customer orders we can take each day.

"We have successfully tested opening and taking a limited number of orders today.  Please come back again tomorrow morning.

"In the meantime feel free to browse the website and add items to your favourites wishlist.

"We’re sorry about this, and hope that you’ll understand!"
