Is Jonathan Jones having an identity crisis? The footnote on his article (Comment, 22 November) blaming art critics for women’s lack of progress in the world describes him as art correspondent for the Guardian. Yet he is also an art critic. He should decide what his job is – a correspondent contributing news or commentary on art; or a critic, objectively evaluating and interpreting art, thus helping others to perceive it and tie in to a wider contemporary perspective.

• Re your Eyewitness pictures (24 November), may I propose a sequel of pictures featuring the photographer, Julia Christe, being dropped from a safe height on to a mattress, as many times as were the 100 dogs, while being blasted by a wind machine? I’d be fascinated to see whether she exhibits a similar range of startled expressions as those of the dogs.
