Next Stoke City manager contenders: Former Bristol City and Manchester United bosses in the frame with Nathan Jones set to leave

Two former Bristol City favourites have been tipped to take over at Stoke City.

Nathan Jones is set to face the axe following a dismal start to the season for the Potters, which has seen them lose 10 out of their 14 Championship matches so far.

Two ex-Robins are now some of the favourites to take over for the job.

Tony Pulis has been backed by the Sack Race to return to the Bet 365 Stadium after leading the Potters to the Premier League during a seven-year stint in charge of the club between 2006 and 2013.

The Welshman previously managed the Robins from 1999 to 2000 and has retained close links to Bristol as city, having also played for Bristol Rovers.

Former Robins defender David Moyes has also been backed for the role should Jones leave.

Moyes spent two years at the Robins in the mid-1980s, making 86 league appearances.
